VMWare Inc. launches its cloud operating system vSphere 4

VMWare Inc. launched an upgrade of its core virtualization software, vSphere4, a cloud operating sytem. VMware hopes that the upgrade which can transform data centers into virtual compute clouds enabling applications move fluidly across computing, network and storage resources will convince IT executives that virtualization is now reliable to run large corporate databases and other critical applications.

vSphere 4 also boasts several new features including:

The new upgrade is slated to be available in the current quarter and the price ranges from $995 for a three-server package to $3,495 per processor for a high-end package.
